Speaking after picking up his trophy at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre he said, “It’s definitely the best goal of my career, it was such a nice feeling and I’m delighted and proud to be given this award.

“The only way I could have made a connection with the ball was through a bicycle-kick, because the ball was behind me - I just acted on instinct.

“I’ve watched it back quite a few times and the lads still talk about it now. I just caught the ball right and luckily it found the bottom corner.

“I think everyone saw how much it meant, and the way the rest of the team celebrated that moment with me made it really special. To do something like that in front of our own fans at the Amex was the icing on the cake and hopefully I can contribute more goals between now and the end of the season.”
