The 21-year-old has now scored four goals in three games to leave Argentina one win from qualification for this summer’s Olympics in Tokyo.

Mac Allister was recalled by Albion from his loan spell with Boca Juniors last Friday and opened the scoring after 18 minutes with a stylish free-kick before doubling his account from long range in the second half.

He is now leading scorer in the tournament following his two goals against Colombia and Ecuador earlier in the campaign.

Monday’s win came in the first of three final group games this week which will determine which two teams qualify. Argentina play Colombia on Thursday and Brazil on Sunday with the top two going through.
