- Albion’s under-18s are beaten 3-1 by Reading
- Nahum Melvin-Lambert, Augustus McGiff (2) score for the Royals
- Jack Leahy on target for Mark Beard’s side
- The Seagulls are next in action in an FA Youth Cup tie away at Derby County on Wednesday
Jack Leahy gave Mark Beard’s side a perfect start with an 18th-minute opener, but the Royals hit back through strikes from Nahum Melvin-Lambert and Augustus McGiff’s brace to consign the Seagulls to defeat.
Leahy fired Albion in front from Stefan Vukoje’s assist, but the Royals hit back with Melvin-Lambert with just 15 minutes left on the clock to restore parity to the scoreline.
It looked like the spoils would be shared until McGiff scored the first of his goals with three minutes of normal time remaining.
The Royals number ten ensured all three points would go to the hosts when he successful converted from the spot.
Beard’s time now turn their attention to a match against Derby County in an FA Youth Cup tie at Pride Park on Wednesday.
