Both players netted their first goals for the club in an important win over Eddie Howe’s men on the south coast, and the boss was thrilled with what he saw from his side.

“I am delighted with the result and the performance and proud of the players, in the way they went about the game,” said Potter.

“There was some good quality at times and it’s an important three points for everyone – the players and the supporters. We could have had another goal or two but in the end it’s a win we are delighted with.

“We got the early goal but there were aspects of the first half I wasn’t so happy with. We made a few adjustments and the response was really good.

“Even when Bournemouth made changes it didn’t have too much effect, but at 1-0 you know that you need the second and I was pleased with how the players reacted to the disappointment of our disallowed VAR goal and kept going. We deserved to get the second one.”

Potter: A great moment for Ali

Jahanbakhsh scored inside three minutes, before Mooy also claimed his first goal for the club with 12 minutes to go, and Potter was pleased with the contribution of both his goal scorers.

“Ali wants things to go so well here,” added Potter. “It was a nice moment in the stadium and our supporters were genuinely delighted for him when he scored.

“You understand when they are not playing that players are frustrated but he’s always trained really well and there is a role for him. He has attributes that others don’t have but the key is that he enjoys his football and enjoys being here.

“Aaron is on loan for the season and we have to respect that he is Huddersfield’s player. He’s enjoying his football and he feels comfortable at the club.

“He’s a great person and an intelligent footballer. Previously we perhaps haven’t got the reward as a team his individual performance deserved but today we did and I’m delighted for him.”
