Pascal Gross speaks to the media ahead of today's game.

The German leads the club’s all-time Premier League assists record with 14 but despite taking great pride from creating chances for others he stressed that results are more important that personal achievements.

He said, “I’m proud of that [number of assists], and my biggest strength is to create chances.

“You always want to have more though, and will keep trying to create chances to get more assists. It could be one or two more, but I always try to do my job in the best way possible.

“But the most important thing for me is to play good football. I’m a footballer that enjoys playing as well as the technical side of the game.

“I liked having a lot of the ball with the team on Monday against Crystal Palace, but what beats everything is getting the three points.

“I don’t need to get assists for it to be a good game for me, the three points is always more important.”

Gross reflected on Monday night’s 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park and believes being able to convert chances into goals is what separates the top teams from the rest.

“We played some very good football against Palace, and we dominated most of the game and deserved all three points.

“You have to kill the game and that’s the next step. It’s already good that we can control the game away from home and take the lead - but the top teams kill games off and take the points. We are in a good way, but we have to improve and try to get better every day.”
