The former club captain joined the head coach’s backroom team ahead of the current campaign after hanging up his boots at the end of last term, and spoke glowingly of his experiences under the Seagulls’ boss so far.

He said, “Graham has an amazing football brain. His way of viewing the game and the way he builds with the group makes him a really top manager.

“You can already see the changes he’s made and he’s helped the signings who have come up from the Championship to adapt as well. He’s helped them be able to play in the Premier League and they look as though they’ve been doing so for a long time, so that really says a lot.

“He’s got an amazing way of dealing with everything and I feel very lucky to be in this position and to be able to work with him.

“We always study the opposition but for him the most important thing is how we are going to play. That’s really impressed me.”

The Spaniard can now be found watching first-team matches from the press box at both the Amex Stadium and at grounds around the country, alongside goalkeeping coach Ben Roberts, and the club’s first team analysis department.

Bruno spoke about the differing perspective the new surroundings offer him on a matchday, and highlighted the benefits it can provide when it comes to giving the side feedback.

“You see things from a different vantage point from a little bit higher up,” he continued.

“It’s interesting to see the match from a different perspective. You can see different things and you have a better image of tactics.

“It’s a bit different when you’re out on the pitch! But for me it’s a different challenge and it’s one I’m enjoying a lot.”

Albion head coach Graham Potter.

After joining the Seagulls from Valencia in 2012, the former full-back would go on to make 235 appearances for the club, cementing his name in Albion folklore in the process.

He revealed that his current role wasn’t necessarily always on the radar when his playing career came to an end, but emphasised that it’s one he’s currently thoroughly enjoying and embracing.

“I always said I would never go down the coaching route, but in the last couple of years I started to think I might enjoy it.

“A lot of my friends had been saying I’d go down that route because I’m always talking about football, tactics and how to affect games.

“For the last few years I’ve started coaching kids with my son and his friends and I started to enjoy it. This last few months have been a massive change for myself and I love what I’m doing.

“I don’t know where it’s going to take me, but I want to just enjoy it and see what happens.”
