Albion are proud to support the Shop Small campaign.

The club is once again proudly supporting American Express Shop Small, an initiative which encourages people to shop at their local independent retailers.

To mark the club’s support, the Albion duo met with Lazy Fin’s owner, Matt Andrews, to hear more about the start-up journey of this relatively new small business and why local support is so important.

Lazy Fin owner, Matt Andrews, said, “It was a pleasure to welcome both Neal Maupay and Pascal Gross down to our coffee shop.

“Having recently set up as a new business in the area, it’s hugely important to us to get to know the local community and build up our regular custom.

“Receiving this support from the local Albion players has been a huge boost for us.”

Caroline Bouvet, VP at American Express, explained the importance which small businesses play in the local community, and added, “Small businesses play such a vital role in their local communities so we are delighted that our partners at Brighton & Hove Albion FC are helping us shine a spotlight on them at this busy time of year.

“We hope that our Shop Small campaign will encourage people to show their support for the independents by shopping small this Small Business Saturday and all year round.”

Maupay & Gross shop small!

Maupay and Gross were also proud to promote the initiative and to help businesses like the Lazy Fin thrive by backing the Shop Small campaign.

“Having recently moved to Brighton, and seen what a fantastic city it is to live in, I want to support the local businesses that help make it such a great place. Encouraging people to support local small shops as the Amex Shop Small campaign does, can only be a good thing,” said Maupay.

Gross added, “I’ve been living in Brighton for a few years now and love coming to the beach and into the city, bringing my friends and relatives when they come to visit. We will often pop into one of the many small businesses in that area — for a coffee, for lunch, to shop.

“With the sun out, it has made for a wonderful afternoon and days like these are perfect for that here in Brighton. It’s great to see campaigns such as Shop Small backing independent businesses and supporting that culture of the city and the seafront.”
