Albion reached the semi-finals of last season's competition.

Graham Potter’s side learned of their first opponents in the competition following tonight’s third round draw at the Ethiad Stadium, and will see them pit their wits against Garry Monk's side at the Amex.

The Seagulls progressed all the way to the semi-finals last season, after overcoming AFC Bournemouth, West Bromwich Albion, Derby County and Millwall, ahead of a narrow 1-0 defeat to eventual winners Manchester City at Wembley.

It was the club's best showing in 36 years, when the club progressed to the final in 1983, where they faced Manchester United.

The tie is scheduled to take place across the weekend of 3rd- 6th January, and further information, including ticket details, will be announced in due course.
