The Frenchman highlighted how Graham Potter has given him and his teammates the license to change positions, and revealed how much he is enjoying playing under the former Swansea boss.
He said, “We have very good players on and off the ball who can make runs and thread balls behind the defence. That’s what we do with Leandro [Trossard], Aaron [Connolly] and Steven [Alzate].
“We all play in our positions on the pitch, but we can play on the right side, the left side or in the middle, as long as we stay in our shape. Even when we make mistakes, he’s always behind us and pushing us to try again and again. For an offensive player, it’s brilliant.
“Personally, I’m quite happy with four goals I have scored so far, but I know I can do more. There are a lot of things to take in when you come into a team, but I want more. With that in mind, I will keep working hard to score more goals.”
Maupay reflected on Albion’s start to the season which has yielded 15 points from 12 games, and says the team can be pleased with their progress so far.
“We are satisfied with where we are in the league at the moment. It was a tough start for us and we didn’t get the results that we wanted, but the last few weeks have been better and we managed to pick up some more points to leave us in a better place.
“It’s a long season though, so we still need to stay focused.”
High-flying Leicester City are Albion’s next opponents at the Amex this coming Saturday, and despite their lofty position in second place, Maupay is encouraging his teammates to take confidence from a run of three consecutive home victories.
“They have pace and quality on the ball, and they like to score goals as well. It could be an open game, but we must defend well as they will be a constant threat throughout the 90 minutes.
“We will miss Dunky [Lewis Dunk] and Adam [Webster], but we have a very good squad, and players that haven’t got many minutes so far will have a chance to impress.
“When we play at the Amex with our fans, it gives us something more in terms of our belief and desire to win the game. We built on that Tottenham win and were down by a goal with 15 minutes to go against Everton and we still won that game. It showed the mentality we have, and we’ll be ready for that game to try and get a fourth win in a row.”
