Seagulls starlet makes Colombia bow

Albion midfielder Steven Alzate achieved another impressive milestone in his fledgling career, after making his senior Colombia debut in a 1-0 win over Peru on Friday night.

The 21-year-old came onto the pitch as a 73rd-minute substitute to replace former Chelsea man Juan Cuadrado during the friendly, which took place in Miami.

Alzate was on the pitch when La Tricolor scored a late stoppage-time winner, that came courtesy of Alfredo Morelos’s strike.

Fellow Premier League players that also featured in the game for Colombia included: Yerry Mina (Everton), Davinson Sanchez (Tottenham Hotspur) and Jefferson Lerma (AFC Bournemouth).

The Seagulls starlet and the rest of the Colombia squad will now head north up the east coast for a second friendly match against Ecuador this coming Tuesday.
