The 21-year-old has played every minute of league action for Marcelo Balsa’s men so far this term, and Leeds boast the best defensive record in the division. They have conceded just eight goals, with the next best defence conceding 12.

Meanwhile in the same game, Jan Mlakar came off the bench for the visitors with 72 minutes played, replacing Nahki Wells for Mark Warburton’s men.

There was also a clean sheet for fellow Albion defender Matt Clarke, as Derby County were 2-0 winners over Middlesbrough at Pride Park Stadium, with a goal in either half from Tom Lawrence being enough for Philip Cocu’s men to claim three points.

Christian Walton and Blackburn Rovers left it to late to seal a 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday at Ewood Park. The visitors had taken the lead with seven minutes to play thanks to Jacob Murphy, but an equaliser from Tosin Adarabioyo and an injury-time winner for John Buckley gave Tony Mowbray’s men a dramatic win.

Elsewhere in the same division, Jayson Molumby and Millwall were on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline away to Reading at the Madejski Stadium. Jordan Obita and former Seagull Sam Baldock had put the visitors two goals to the good, and Jed Wallace’s effort just past the hour mark proved to be no more than a consolation. To the east in the capital a day later, Beram Kayal and Charlton Athletic lost 1-0 at home to Preston North End in the Sunday lunchtime kick-off at The Valley.

In non-league action on home soil, James Tilley and Yeovil Town drew 1-1 away to Boreham Wood in the National League to keep the Glovers in second position and one point behind league leaders Bromley.

Kasper Lopata and Whitehawk were 2-0 winners over Burgess Hill Town in the Isthmian League South East division, while Carl Rushworth and Worthing drew 2-2 away to Cray Wanderers in the Isthmian Premier Division in the league above.

EUROPEAN AFFAIRS:

Jurgen Locadia got his second goal for Hoffenheim in their 3-0 home victory over Paderborn on Friday night. The Dutchman netted the side’s third goal with just 25 minutes played, as the first-half treble was enough to give the Bundesliga side their fifth consecutive win in all competitions and move the team up to ninth in Germany’s top tier.

Florin Andone played the entirety of Galatasaray’s 2-0 home win over Rizespor at the weekend, a result which moves the side up to seventh in the table. The Romanian striker and the side travel to face Real Madrid at the Bernabeu tomorrow night looking to register their first win of the UEFA Champions League group stages.

Percy Tau played the final 25 minutes of Club Brugge’s 3-0 home win over Kortrijk, a result which keeps the side top of the league ahead of Wednesday evening’s UEFA Champions League game away to PSG.

Leo Ostigard and FC St Pauli drew 2-2 on home soil with Karlsruher in the division below, while Viktor Gyokeres was an unused substitute for the contest in Hamburg. In the Netherlands, Anders Dreyer was a second-half substitute for SC Heerenveen in their 1-1 draw away to Den Haag, while George Cox and Fortuna Sittard suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat away to FC Utrecht.
