Loan round-up: Locadia off the mark

It was another busy weekend of action for Albion’s loan players, with many tasting success here, in Europe and over in South America.

The round-up starts overseas in Germany and a first goal for Jurgen Locadia at Hoffenheim.

The Dutchman was on the scoresheet in a 3-2 win for the Bundesliga side away at Hertha Berlin, as the forward netted the first goal in a hard-fought victory in the German capital on Saturday.

Leo Ostigard and Viktor Gyokeres were in Bundesliga 2 action for FC St Pauli in their 1-0 defeat at FC Heidenheim on Sunday. Ostigard played the full 90 minutes, while Gyokeres was substituted with 65 minutes played.

Over in the Dutch Eredivisie, George Cox played the full 90 minutes of a 4-1 win for Fortuna Sittard over VVV Venlo on Saturday, while Anders Dreyer came on for the final two minutes in Heerenveen’s 1-1 draw with Groningen.

Across the border in Belgium, Percy Tau featured for the first 45 minutes in a 1-1 draw for Club Brugge against Standard Liege.

Sunday was a day to forget for Florin Andone and Galatasaray, as the Turkish side were beaten 1-0 by Istanbul rivals Besiktas.

Out in South America, Alexis Mac Allister played 83 minutes for Boca Juniors in their 1-0 win over River Plate in a Copa Libertadores semi-final second leg, but exited the competition after losing the first leg 2-0.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Christian Walton featured between the sticks for Blackburn Rovers in their 3-2 defeat to Preston North End in a Lancashire derby on Saturday.

Matthew Clarke was on the wrong end of a 2-0 scoreline for Derby County away at Hull City.

It was better news for Jayson Molumby in the same division, after the Irishman played 90 minutes of a 2-0 win for Millwall at home to Stoke City.

Ben White had to settle for a share of the spoils in Leeds United’s goalless draw away at Sheffield Wednesday.

Finally, in the Championship, Beram Kayal came on for the final two minutes in Charlton Athletic’s 2-2 draw away at West Bromwich Albion.

NON-LEAGUE

In non-league football, Carl Rushworth played in goal for Worthing in a 2-1 win over Walton Casuals in the FA Trophy first qualifying round.

Kacper Lopata was also in FA Trophy action for Whitehawk, and featured for the entirety of a comfortable 4-1 victory over Hendon at the Terrapura Ground.
