Loan round-up: Gyokeres off the mark

Viktor Gyokeres got his first goal since his summer loan switch to St Pauli in the German second division side’s 2-0 win over SV Sandhausen this weekend.

It was a game in which fellow Albion loanee Leo Ostigard also played the full 90 minutes, as the Hamburg based outfit moved up to sixth position in the league table. 

In Belgium, Percy Tau played 65 minutes of Club Brugge’s 5-0 win over Mechelen in the Belgian Pro League.

The South African’s side are top of the table and unbeaten after eight matches ahead of tomorrow night’s UEFA Champions League group stage clash with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

Elsewhere in Europe, George Cox continued his season in Holland’s top-flight by playing the entirety of Fortuna Sittard’s 0-0 draw at home to Sparta Rotterdam, and Jurgen Locadia was a second half substitute in FC Hoffenheim’s home defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany.  

In South America, Billy Arce was a second half substitute for Barcelona SC in their 2-0 win over Guayaquil City in Ecuador’s top flight. 

Back on home soil, Ben White and Leeds United fell to a 1-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic at The Valley on Saturday, as an own goal from Stuart Dallas condemned Marcelo Bielsa’s men to defeat, and Christian Walton and Blackburn Rovers suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Luton Town in the same division.

Following their heroics last week against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup, Robert Sanchez and Rochdale were on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline at home to Wycombe Wanderers.

Elsewhere in League One, Max Sanders made his full debut for AFC Wimbledon away to Peterborough United, but the Dons lost out 3-2. 

In non-league, James Tilley and Yeovil Town continued their impressive run of form of being unbeaten in their last seven matches with a 3-1 victory at home to Bromley at Huish Park, a result which leaves the Glovers third in the National League table, whilst Roco Rees and Worthing picked up a 2-1 win at home to Kingstonian at Woodside Road.
