The game takes place this Saturday at 5.30pm, in what will be the 25th meeting between the two clubs.

1. Close Encounters: There has not been more than a goal separating both Albion and Newcastle in each of the last five meetings between the two sides. In that time, the Seagulls have had two wins, two draws and one defeat against the Magpies.

2. Played for Both: In recent years, Tim Krul, Kazenga LuaLua, Aaron Hughes, Leon Best and Steve Harper have featured for both clubs, and looking further back, Kit Napier, Alan Duffy and Jeff Clarke are among the players to have donned the stripes of both Albion and Newcastle.

3. Toon tamed on Tyneside: Beram Kayal scored the winner for Albion in last season’s fixture at St James’ Park, securing the Seagulls a first win on Tyneside since March 1992.

4. 5th May 1979: A date that will be fondly remembered by Albion fans of a certain age, as a 3-1 victory over Newcastle United on this day secured the club a place in the top flight for the first time in its history.

5. Debut for Duffy: Shane Duffy made his Albion debut at St James’ Park in a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle back in August 2016.
