Graham Potter speaks to the media ahead of Burnley.

The Seagulls take on Burnley on the south coast looking to get back to winning ways after the international break, and the Albion boss spoke highly of the man who will take charge of the Clarets tomorrow.

He said, “I’ve been hugely impressed with what he’s done there – they’ve stayed in the league and pushed for further with a clarity about what they want to do.

“As a coach I have respect for that, people make a thing about style, but it’s about what you do, and Burnley do their roles very well.

“That balance between defence and attack is important and there’s a real clarity to everything, so he’s done a fantastic job.”

Potter's Burnley press conference

Dyche’s side occupy 12th position in the league table ahead of this weekend’s game, with the same record as Albion in the form of one win, one draw and two losses.

Potter emphasised the importance of having a focused mentality against what he knows will be a well-organised side.

“I’m expecting a tough game against a side who I really like, they’re very good at what they do and have a good balance between defence and attack,” he continued.

“They create chances and defend well, they can mix their game up and use their strengths in a good way to create chances.

“We need to be really focused and do our work as well as we can, it’s a game we’re looking forward to after this break and it’s good to be back in league action.”

The Seagulls return to the field this weekend following the season’s first international break, and the boss reflected on the work that’s been done over the period of time in the last week and a half.

“I always think that you have to use the time in the best way you can, you can’t control it, so it’s about making the most of the time and players you have available.

“We’re disappointed about Leandro Trossard’s injury but that can happen – the guys who have been here have had a few days off and also trained really well.

“It’s important to recharge when you can, overall I’m happy with the break and now I’m really looking forward to getting the games going again.”
