The 2017/18 campaign saw Albion boast the eighth-best home record in the Premier League, and with Burnley visiting the Amex Stadium this weekend, Gross is keen to get back to winning ways on the south coast.

He said, “We’re at home on Saturday and we have to show that we’re strong at the Amex, because that will be massive for us throughout the season.

“Every game in the Premier League is difficult, but you always have a chance of winning, no matter where the game is.

“We were very strong at home in our first season in the Premier League, and we need to get back to that.

“We should be brave and confident on Saturday; it’s another opportunity to win and hopefully we can take more points from Burnley than we managed to last season.”

The September international break gave Albion’s players time to reflect on the opening month of the season, and the 28-year-old gave his thoughts on how the league has played out so far.

“I’m the type of person that watches a lot of football. The Premier League is very strong this year, every team has a good selection of players.

“Every team is improving, and that’s what we want to do. We try to get better every day and that’s what you have to do in this league to be competitive.

“Every team has already shown their quality. Watford only have one point at the moment, but they’re a very good team, they showed that last season.

“The new teams — Aston Villa, Norwich and Sheffield United — have also shown what they can do and that they can compete in the Premier League this season.”
