Solly March is in contention to make a return on Saturday.

The 25-year-old has covered a lot of ground inside our opening two matches of the season, and he discussed his new position and the positive vibes given off by Potter, who has opted for a 3-4-3 formation against both Watford and West Ham United.

He said, “It’s a new position for me and I’m learning from every game. In previous years I’ve been playing deep, so it’s probably got me used to defending and getting into one-v-one situations.

“Getting up and down the pitch all game is tiring, so it’s very much about fitness as well. Hopefully I can push on from here.

“Positive is probably the key word [to describe Graham Potter]. When you make a mistake, he’s always encouraging and telling you to keep on trying those things.

“You’re always going to make mistakes, but we know we’ve got that behind us, so we feel free to try things, which is what you need to create chances and goals.”

Solly March takes on his marker at the Amex

March, who saw a powerful right-footed shot saved by Lukasz Fabianski on Saturday afternoon, reflected on the 1-1 draw against the Hammers, before highlighting the need for positive form at the Amex this season.

“We created a lot of chances," he continued. "I was disappointed to see us go 1-0 down because I thought we were the better team at that stage.

“But we showed good character to get back into the game and probably should have nicked it, because we had the chances to do so.

“In previous years the Amex has been a bit of a fortress — it’s been hard for teams to come to and take points.

“Hopefully we can make it a fortress again, stamp our authority at the Amex and get more points than we did last season.”
