The 26-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Seagulls and explained how she had fulfilled a childhood ambition by making the switch to English football.

She said, “I can’t wait to get started with my team and this new jersey, and do what I love to do, which is to play football.

“It was an opportunity to work with a top coach like Hope Powell, and I’m very impressed with what the club has to offer, which includes both the training facilities and the stadium.

“It was always my dream to play in England or the United States, so I had no hesitation in grabbing this opportunity.”

Le Garrec was impressed by the elite mentality in place at the club, and says she is looking forward to settling into her surroundings off the pitch too.

“The diverse aspects of the club in seeing the youth, men and the women is very impressive to me.

“It’s been a long-time goal of mine to be at a women’s club that is in a top league and everything here is very professional. It’s a very structured approach to training for an elite player.

“It is well known around the world that England has the best leagues in the world. Brighton is also a lively city by the sea, and I’m looking forward to living here.

The France international also spoke about her long-term aim to achieve at the club, and is eager to help the Seagulls become one of the most recognised sides in the women’s game.

“I want to give my maximum in every match and get settled into the team. I also want to help the club become an established side in the WSL.”
