Burn: I've given everything

Dan Burn says he has ‘given everything’ to force his way into Graham Potter’s plans for this season, after producing another impressive display in the side’s 2-1 win over Valencia on Friday night.

Burn featured on the left-hand side of a three-man defence for the second game in succession, and explained how much he is loving his run in the team.

He said, “It was the last game going into the Premier League season, so it was nice to finish it off by playing well and getting a win against a very good side.

“We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but I’ve been working really hard and enjoyed playing in the games I have done.

“Thankfully we’ve picked up some good results too, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens next week.

“I know that I’ve given absolutely everything I can to try and get myself into the manager’s plans and I hope it’s enough. If it’s not, then so be it.”

The centre-back explained how well the players have adapted to Potter’s new style of play, and praised fellow defender Shane Duffy for scoring another header in pre-season.

“Every manager brings a different philosophy, and the lads have adapted to it well. I like to learn, as I’ve played under lots of different managers and styles of football.

“He’s so good in the air, and it helps when me and Dunky [Lewis Dunk] are in there as well, because it gives their defence a problem in terms of who to pick up.

“That probably creates a bit more space for him, and if we keep doing that, then hopefully he can finish as our top scorer!”

Graham Potter's side are next in action on home soil on Saturday 17th August against West Ham United.

The contest with the Hammers will be the new head coach's first top flight game at the Amex, and tickets are now on sale here at two spaces per fan number.
