Duffy Wins Top International Award

By James Hilsum • 17 March 2019

Brighton & Hove Albion defender Shane Duffy has been named the FAI Senior Player of the Year tonight.

The 27-year-old has claimed the award for a second consecutive year after winning the same prize in 2018, following a number of stand-out displays in the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup qualifying campaign.

Duffy has continued his fine international form this year, playing the full 90 minutes in all four of Ireland’s UEFA Nations League fixtures.

Also honoured at the ceremony were Richard Dunne and Emma Byrne, who were both inducted into the FAI Hall of Fame.
