Albion In Tackling Racism Feature

18 March 2019

Brighton & Hove Albion feature in Sky Sports News’ series of programming titled “Tackling Racism”, which looks at the theme of underrepresentation of BAME managers in the top four divisions of English football.

Sky look at why there are so few black coaches and what the game’s administrators can do to improve the situation.

Taking the latest research into the number of BAME coaches as a foundation for their reporting, they focused on Albion, who are unique in having BAME managers in charge of the men’s and women’s teams.

The club also has BAME coaches in the first team coaching set-up, as well as other age groups at the club.

Chris Hughton, Hope Powell, Paul Barber, Liam Rosenior and Albion’s head of human resources, Rose Read, all give an open and candid insight into the club’s approach to recruitment and their own personal experiences.

You can hear their views in a special VT on “Good Morning Sports Fans” on Tuesday from 6am on Sky Sports News, as well as opinions from other stakeholders in the sport.
