By Alex Stedman • 14 May 2019

Five Brighton & Hove Albion under-23 players have been retained for the 2019/20 season, while seven have been released by the club.

Both defender Alex Cochrane and goalkeeper Tom McGill have been given new two-year contracts with the option of an extra year on each, while Ryan Longman has also been given a one-year professional contract with the option of an extra year.

Archie Davies and Jordan Davies have also triggered extensions in their contracts.

Under-23s coach Simon Rusk said, “All of the players have deserved their new deals after a positive campaign, and we hope to see them continue their progression with the club.

“Now the challenge for them is to carry on that development into next season and beyond.”

Meanwhile, Ben Barclay, Owen Moore, Joe Tomlinson, Josh Kerr, Ben Hall, Stefan Ljubicic and Billy Collings have not been offered new deals.

Rusk added, “These are always tough decisions to make - we thank all of those leaving us for their contributions to the club and wish them all the best for the future.

“We will of course keep in contact with them over the coming years and hopefully they now move on to a new stage of their career."
