Midfielder Completes Loan Move

By Alex Stedman • 19 June 2019

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis MacAllister has completed a season-long loan move to Argentinian giants Boca Juniors until 30th June 2020.

The 20-year-old joined the Seagulls in January this year, before being loaned back to Argentinos Juniors for the remainder of the 2018/19 campaign, where he found the net five times in 19 Primera Division appearances last term.

Boca’s domestic season kicks off in August, but they have already qualified for the knockout stages of the Copa Libertadores, and MacAllister will be eligible to play in the round of 16 two-legged tie against Brazilian side Club Athletico Paranaense in late July and early August.

Technical director Dan Ashworth said, “Alexis is an exciting young talent and he will continue his development for the next year in his homeland, with one of Argentina’s biggest clubs, playing in the Argentine first division and South America’s prestigious Copa Libertadores.

“We will continue to monitor his development over the 12-month period and review his position next summer.”

The Argentinian originally came through the Juniors academy and made his senior debut in a goalless draw with Central Cordoba back in 2016, before becoming a regular in the side for the 2017/18 season and throughout last term.

MacAllister will now join up with the 33-time Argentinian title winners ahead of the new season.
