Pre-match Brief: Albion V Crystal Palace

By Anna Easthope • 06 January 2018

Monday evening sees the Emirates FA Cup third round tie with Crystal Palace, our second home encounter with the Eagles this season and our first meeting in the FA Cup since the first round replay at Stamford Bridge in 1976.

The meeting with Crystal Palace will be the first competitive club match in England in which VAR (Video Assistant Referee) technology will be used.

Travel update

Trains – Southern Rail have informed the club they will be running a full evening match service, and post-match we have arranged for a football special to transport Crystal Palace fans from Falmer back to London, with the train stopping at Three Bridges, East Croydon, Selhurst, Clapham Junction and London Victoria.

This service departs Falmer at 10.41pm, therefore Crystal Palace fans are advised to remain inside the stadium for a short period, where the bars and catering outlets will be open, and you will be directed by police and stewards to Falmer station in time to board the train.

We advise all supporters to check Southern Rail’s website before travelling to and from the stadium.

Park & Rides – Mill Road, Brighton University at Lewes Road and Brighton Racecourse will be open at 4.45pm.

Please be advised that for this match, parking at Brighton Racecourse will be on the market side, therefore access will be via Manor Hill. Please follow directions from stewards. The track will be open for all supporters to walk across, which will allow access to the buses at the main entrance.

For disabled supporters, your parking will be located within the hard-standing picnic area of the racecourse, and you will enter via the main entrance off Freshfield Road. Please have your blue badge on show for entry.

Coaches – Due to additional safety measures for this match, the departure of coaches leaving the stadium will be 10.15pm.

Car Parks – The University of Sussex (Car Park C) is now completely sold out. However, the Bridge (Car Park B) has a limited number of spaces available to purchase at seagullstickets.com.

All vehicles entering the University of Sussex must use the entrance via Stanmer Park, as there will be no entry at Falmer or Knights Gate.

Post-Match – Supporters leaving South Hospitality and West Stands will be directed clockwise around the stadium. However, please note all park and ride buses will operate until all the queues have been cleared, giving all supporters sufficient time to arrive at their located departure point.

Seagull Travel – Additional buses and spaces are available to pre-book through Albion's official travel partner, Seagull Travel. Seagull Travel collects from over 120 pick-up locations covering East and West Sussex as well as locations across Hampshire, Kent and Surrey. For a full list of pick-up locations please visit www.seagull-travel.co.uk.

Drop-Offs & Pick-ups – There will be no pick-ups or drop-offs along Village Way.

Car park 5 at the University of Sussex, by the Sports Hall, is being utilised to enable fans to be dropped off and picked up before and after the match. This drop-off/pick-up point is a short walk through the underpass to the Amex Stadium. There are also free shuttle buses in operation. Entry to the University of Sussex is via Stanmer Park only.

Please Note – Village Way will be extremely busy and congested, and unless you have pre-booked parking, please avoid this area both pre- and post-match.

Other – All fans are advised to get to the stadium as early as possible.

Lounges Dress Code

We would like to take this opportunity to remind members that the dress code for the 1901 Club is smart business attire for all guests, male and female.

Acceptable attire includes smart jeans, smart boots, clean trainers and canvas shoes. Please note ripped jeans, shorts and flip flops are not permitted. Hospitality guests dining in either restaurant will still be required to wear shoes; trainers will not be permitted in dining areas.

Men must wear a collared shirt or polo shirt. Football shirts, polo-neck and turtleneck sweaters are not acceptable. Only guests aged under 14 may wear Brighton & Hove Albion replica shirts. Away team colours or shirts are not permitted in any circumstances.

Please ensure your guests are aware of and adhere to the dress code as entry will not be permitted if they are not dressed accordingly.

Unfortunately, we will be unable to re-seat 1901 Club members or their guests in general admission areas of the stadium if refused admission to the 1901 Club.

Post-match

After the match there will be some alterations to usual egress procedures from the stadium, as per our previous meeting with Palace in November. Those leaving the stadium from the Heineken Lounge and West stands will be directed right upon exiting the turnstiles, towards the North end of the stadium. This is to facilitate the egress of the away supporters.

Those wishing to reach the coach park or Car Park A will not be able to take the shorter route via the South side of the stadium.

We expect this diversion to be in place until around 30 minutes after the final whistle. If you have any mobility issues we would advise you to wait within the stadium until after this period.

Selected kiosks and bars will remain open after the match to provide refreshments during this period.
