Albion Loan Round-up: Easter Action

By Alex Stedman • 03 April 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion’s loanees tasted plenty of action over a busy Easter Weekend in both the EFL and abroad.

Christian Walton played twice for Wigan Athletic as they stayed one point behind second-placed Shrewsbury Town, and the Latics still have two games in hand over the Shropshire side.

It was successful Good Friday for Paul Cook’s men, as the Albion stopper kept a clean sheet in a 3-0 win over Oldham Athletic, but Monday evening saw the side slip to a 2-1 defeat to Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

Ben Hall played the entire 90 minutes of Notts County’s 1-0 defeat to league leaders Accrington Stanley on Monday, having been an unused substitute for the 0-0 draw with Wycombe Wanderers three days earlier.

In the same division, Ben White featured for Newport County in their 1-1 draw with Coventry City at Rodney Parade, before the side’s game with Chesterfield was postponed at the Proact Stadium yesterday.

Richie Towell featured for Rotherham United in the side’s Good Friday draw at home to Peterborough United, whilst Oliver Norwood played the final 20 minutes of Fulham’s 2-0 win over Norwich City on the same day – Slavisa Jokanovic’s side are back in action this evening (Tuesday) against Leeds United at Craven Cottage.

In the Norwegian top flight, Mathias Normann and Molde made it three wins out of three to stay top of the league with a 2-0 win over Tromso, whilst Soufyan Ahannach featured for Sparta Rotterdam in the side’s 2-0 defeat away to PEC Zwolle in the Eredivisie.
