Under-23s Qualify For Premier League 2 Play-offs

By Kieran Cleeves • 16 April 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-23s have secured a play-off spot in the Premier League 2 Division 2, following results for Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers over the weekend just gone.

The Seagulls have strung together a six-game unbeaten run in the league, taking 16 points from a possible 18 - and confirmation of their play-off spot came when their closest rivals were beaten.

Fulham lost 2-0 against Southampton at Motspur Park on Friday evening to end their chances of catching the Seagulls, before Wolves lost 2-1 at Norwich City on Sunday afternoon.

Albion will now turn their attention towards finishing in either second or third position, which would secure a home tie for Simon Rusk’s men in the semi-finals.

Blackburn Rovers will win the league if they avoid defeat to Aston Villa this evening, which would then leave the Villans and Middlesbrough as the two other teams that have joined the Seagulls in the play-offs.

The final play-off spot would then be up for grabs, with Reading, Southampton, Fulham and Norwich City still in with a chance of extending their season.

Albion welcome Stoke City to the Checkatrade.com Stadium this evening, and a win would move them into third position, above Middlesbrough on goal difference with one match remaining.

The Seagulls come up against Wolves at Molineux on the final day of the regular season - before discovering who their semi-final opponents will be.
