U23 Preview: Albion V Stoke City

By Kieran Cleeves • 16 April 2018

After securing their play-off spot in the Premier League 2 Division 2, Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-23s will look to secure a home fixture in the semi-finals - starting with tonight’s visit of Stoke City to the Checkatrade.com Stadium, kick-off 7pm.

The Seagulls head into the fixture on the back of a six-game unbeaten run in the league, and Simon Rusk’s team can put themselves in pole position for a home fixture, with victory over the Potters lifting them above Middlesbrough into third.

Albion will then finish their season against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, and another win for the Seagulls would guarantee third position at the very least, unless Boro force a huge turnaround in goal difference.

Rusk’s side came back from 2-0 down to beat Stoke 3-2 when the teams played at the bet365 Stadium in November - and the Potters now find themselves in tenth position with two games remaining.

The Potters were beaten 3-1 by Aston Villa last time out, while the Seagulls sealed an emphatic 5-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre.

Albion supporters can follow a live text blog from tonight’s game on the Match Centre, with a report being uploaded to BrightonandHoveAlbion.com after the full-time whistle.
