Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino gave credit to Brighton & Hove Albion after their battling display at the Amex Stadium secured a share of the spoils against the Argentine’s team, who occupy fourth position in the Premier League.

The 46-year-old felt his players gave all they had to get the three points on the south coast, but was left disappointed that his team failed to take adavtange of their possession in the second half.

He said, ”We knew that Brighton's performances here [the Amex] - when they faced big teams - were good. They’re a nice team that try to play well with an unbelievable manager.”

“Credit to Brighton - I thought it was even in the first half, as it was difficult for us in the first 45 minutes. We then scored in the second half but conceded in the next action.”

“We had the possession in the second half but we lacked creativity in the last third and that was constant during the whole game.”

“It was a very difficult game. I’m always pleased with my players. They all made unbelievable efforts and were unlucky that we didn’t get the three points, but we keep going.”

Pochettino made six changes from the team that lost 3-1 against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, but the Argentine backed up his decision to introduce fresh legs for their trip to the Amex.

“After Saturday evening we finished very late. Some players needed rest, some needed to stay on the bench and we have a strong squad, so everyone is ready to play.

"We tried to add fresh legs to try and match them. The season is tough for some players that play a lot with the international break, but today was a very good challenge.”
