U23 Preview: Wolverhampton Wanderers V Albion

By Kieran Cleeves • 23 April 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-23s will look to secure a home tie in the Premier League 2 Division 2 play-off semi-finals this evening, when they play Wolverhampton Wanderers in their final regular season match at Molineux, kick-off 7pm.

The Seagulls have already sealed their place in the play-offs and know they’ll be facing Middlesbrough, but Simon Rusk’s side can guarantee a home fixture with victory over the West Midlands club tonight.

Albion must match or better the result that Boro record in their final league game of the season at Southampton, which also takes place this evening.

Rusk’s side extended their unbeaten league run to seven matches with an emphatic 5-1 victory over Stoke City at the Checkatrade.com Stadium last Monday - Aaron Connolly (2), Danny Mandroiu, Henrik Bjordal and Viktor Gyokeres scored the goals.

Another 5-1 success came beforehand, against West Bromwich Albion at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre - and the Seagulls will be keen to carry their stunning form into the play-off semi-finals.

Albion have also recorded three successive away victories in the league, whilst not conceding a single goal in that period - as they picked up impressive wins over Newcastle United, Blackburn Rovers and Middlesbrough.

Wolves lost their previous match 2-1 against Norwich City, but depending on results elswhere, their chances of reaching the play-off could remain intact come 7pm this evening.

Albion supporters can follow a live text blog from tonight’s game on the Match Centre, with a report being uploaded to BrightonandHoveAlbion.com after the full-time whistle.
