Stephens Highlights Firm Belief Ahead Of Burnley Trip

By Kieran Cleeves • 25 April 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Dale Stephens highlighted the team’s belief ahead of Saturday’s game against Burnley at Turf Moor, as the Seagulls look to move one step closer to Premier League survival.

The Clarets find themselves seventh in the Premier League following an impressive season under manager Sean Dyche, but Stephens has confidence in Albion’s chances of achieving a positive result in Lancashire.

He said, “They’re obviously very good at home, but there’s a big belief in the squad that we can go there and get a good result.

“We’ve got a good enough squad to compete at this level. We look at what they’ve done this year and we can take confidence from that ourselves.

“If we get three points at Turf Moor, we can start looking ahead at finishing towards the top half of the league table.

“It’s tough to stay in this division, but the manager believes in the squad and if we stay up this season, we can build on it again.”

“Burnley have been promoted a couple of times over the last few years, and I think they’ve done very well this season. When you look at clubs like them, that’s what we’ve got to aspire to do."

The Seagulls are seven points clear of the relegation zone with four matches remaining, and Stephens is focused on working hard to move closer to Premier League safety.

“We know we’ve got tough fixtures, but we’ve got a good squad and we’ve always been confident that we could get points from these remaining games.

“But when you play against the top teams, it’s important that everyone digs in and puts a shift in for the team.

“A total of 36 points is good, but we still feel like there’s a bit of work to be done. If we beat Burnley, that should see us over the line."
