Bruno: We Know What To Expect

By Kieran Cleeves • 26 April 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion captain Bruno praised Burnley for their achievements in the Premier League this season, but believes Chris Hughton’s team know what to expect from the Clarets at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Sean Dyche’s side have enjoyed a successful campaign in the Premier League, as they currently find themselves in seventh position, but Bruno showed his confidence in his team-mates, as they look to take points from the Lancashire club.

He said, “They’ve been unbelievable. They work so hard and have been adding quality to the team. It’s a really tough place to go.

“We’ve been there quite a few times, because we were in the Championship together for quite a few years.

“The good thing about playing there is that we know what to expect. The question is, are we ready? I think we are ready to make a big effort."

The Albion skipper made his return to the starting line-up against Tottenham Hotspur last time out, and he highlighted the hard work required to force his way back into Chris Hughton’s team.

“It’s always nice to come back, especially when you’ve been used to playing. I was sitting out for quite a long time.

“I’d been training so hard to try and take advantage of any chance to play again. Being ready for whatever the team needs is the most important thing.

“You need to train even harder, because when you’re not playing, you’re not getting those minutes on the pitch that keep you fitter.”

The Seagulls come up against Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool after Saturday’s game against the Clarets, and Bruno commented on the difficulty posed by the top sides in the Premier League.

“The feelings aren’t different before the game, but when you’re on the pitch, you see their quality and potential. You can see it’s going to be a tough game.

“But what you’ve got to do is play at the same intensity and reach the same levels. You know you’re going to have less possession, but you have to take advantage of any chances.

“You might only have one or two chances in a game against these sides - but if you take them, that makes a massive difference.”
