Albion's Soccer Sevens Squad Confirmed

By Kieran Cleeves • 14 May 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion’s ten-man under-23 squad for this weekend’s HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens tournament has been announced.

Simon Rusk has selected ten players to represent the Seagulls in Hong Kong over the coming weekend, as Albion look to secure a third piece of silverware in the space of two weeks.

Robert Sanchez is the only goalkeeper to travel, while Alex Cochrane, George Cox, Josh Kerr and Warren O’Hora offer options in defence for Rusk’s promotion-winning side.

The remaining five positions are taken by Steven Alzate, Danny Mandroiu, James Tilley, Aaron Connolly and Viktor Gyokeres - who will be looking to fire the Seagulls to another trophy.

The 16-team tournament includes a number of English clubs - including Albion’s Play-Off Final opponents Aston Villa - but Rusk’s team will get the group stage underway against Leicester City.

HKFA Red Dragons and Singapore are also in Group D alongside the Seagulls, and the teams finishing first and second will progress to the knockout stages of the Main Cup tournament.

Teams finishing third and fourth will go into the knockout stages of the Main Plate competition, and all knockout stage games will be played on Sunday, following the group stage games on the Saturday.
