Natkiel Takes Positives From Liverpool Clash

By James Hilsum • 24 September 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Kate Natkiel took the positives from Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Liverpool and highlighted the progress the side has made in recent weeks.

Albion were undone by Rinsola Babajide’s 85th-minute strike, but Natkiel feels there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic going forward.

She said, “Our ball retention was very good. We moved the ball around well and had a few chances, it’s just putting those chances away.

“If we look back at the last few games, we’ve improved massively. We played well against Birmingham on Wednesday despite the loss, and were unlucky not to get anything from that game.

“But if we look at the way our football is improving, we can take the positives from Sunday.

“It’s important to keep our spirits high because it’s a long season and we’ve got a lot of games to play. We have to play every team twice and we’ll get better in each game, I’m sure of that.”

Reigning Women’s Super League champions Chelsea are Albion’s next opponents in six days’ time and Natkiel says the side will give everything to atone for yesterday’s result.

“Everyone knows that Chelsea are a good side, but so are we and we’ll give it everything we’ve got to get something from the game.

“We’ll be hard to beat once again and try to give everything we’ve got to bounce back from the Liverpool game.

“Hopefully we’ll be able to do that next week.”
