Ryan's Support For Community Day

By Richard Morris • 26 October 2018

Albion in the Community’s newest ambassador, Maty Ryan, is encouraging fans to bring £1 with them to tomorrow’s game to donate to the charity.

The Australian international has replaced Liam Rosenior as AITC’s ambassador from the club’s Premier League team and joins Laura Rafferty, who represents the Albion’s FA Women’s Super League (WSL) squad, and Jadey Yesilada, who works for the charity delivering disability awareness training to local schools.

And ahead of this weekend’s game, which will see AITC volunteers collecting donations from fans before and after the game, Ryan spoke of his pride at joining the charity’s official ambassador line-up.

The popular ‘keeper had this message for Seagulls fans, “Being an ambassador for Albion in the Community is a big thing for me because I know how much this football club means to the community.

“Since I arrived last summer I’ve seen how important the club is to the local area - it would be great if everyone coming to tomorrow’s game with Wolves can bring £1!”

Matt Dorn, AITC’s chief executive officer, was delighted Ryan had chosen to support AITC - and that Rafferty and Yesilada had decided to continue in their ambassador roles. He also thanked Rosenior for his support over the last two seasons.

He said, “We are fortunate to receive fantastic support from across the club’s Premier League and WSL squads and our ambassadors are an important part of that.

“Laura’s passion for community work is clear for all to see and she is an absolute credit to the football club; to have her as an ambassador for another season is great news, while I know many Brighton fans are well aware of the fantastic work Jadey does.

“Liam was a brilliant ambassador and, indeed, continues to support our work in his new role on the club’s coaching team. His retirement from playing, however, left a gap for an AITC ambassador from the Premier League squad.

“Maty was the obvious choice. He is a player who is incredibly popular with supporters and has demonstrated a real commitment to the club and its fans. To have him backing AITC and showing a willingness to engage in our work is a real boost for everyone at the charity.”
