Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-18s secured their biggest win of the season to date with a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa on Saturday.

Ryan Longman’s hat-trick sealed an impressive away victory for the Seagulls, to move them onto nine points from nine league games played.

Longman broke the deadlock with 30 minutes played when he latched onto Jack Spong’s diagonal ball, who cut inside on his right foot and saw his deflected strike go into the bottom corner.

Tareiq Shihab provided the assist for Longman’s and Albion’s second goal just two minutes later, as the full-back played a perfect-weighted cross towards the winger to head home at the far post.

Danny Cashman had a chance to make it 3-0 when the striker went through on goal, but he fired his strike wide.

Peter Gwargis also had an opportunity to get onto the scoresheet after being teed up by Longman, but the Swede’s left-footed effort went just wide.

Villa were reduced to ten men two minutes after the re-start, when Myles Sohna brought Cashman down just outside the area and was shown a straight red card.

Albion continued to apply the pressure, and this time it was Stefan Vukoje who came close after being played through on goal by Marc Leonard, but he fired his strike over the bar.

But Longman wrapped the game up with eight minutes remaining, as he latched on a Teddy Jenks pass and produced a cool finish to make the final score 3-0.
