Preview: Albion To Begin Sussex Senior Cup Defence

By Kieran Cleeves • 21 November 2018

Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-23s take on Lewes in the second round of the Sussex Senior Cup at The Dripping Pan this evening, kick-off 7.45pm.

The match was scheduled to take place earlier this month but was postponed due to heavy rainfall throughout Sussex that made the pitch unplayable.

Simon Rusk’s team have played once in the Checkatrade Trophy since then, and Aaron Connolly’s impressive hat-trick sealed three points against MK Dons, but it wasn’t enough to see Albion progress to the knockout stages.

Lewes have played two home matches in that time — a 2-0 victory over Merthyr Town in the FA Trophy before last Saturday’s 1-0 league defeat against Haringey Borough.

The Seagulls are looking to take their first step towards winning the competition for a third season in a row, and tonight’s victors will travel to Hastings United in the third round.
