Dario Vidosic has thanked Fabian Hurzeler for allowing him to spend time with the men’s coaching team to absorb Premier League-level ideas and know-how.
The recent women’s international break gave Vidosic the opportunity to have a whole week on the senior men’s side of the training ground and he was in the directors’ box at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the recent 2-2 draw – alongside Hurzeler, who was serving a touchline ban.
“I've been really thankful to Fabian ever since I've arrived,” he said. “He's given me the support and he's been to our games and offered me some advice. They're at the pinnacle of the game in terms of the Premier League, and it was such a joy to spend time with him to pick his brain a little bit and also those of Daniel [Niedzkowski] Crofty [Andrew Crofts] and Jonas [Scheuermann].
“They made me welcome and said, ‘Just come in like you're one of us at the moment.’ I came in early in the morning to just be amongst the guys, be in the meetings and just watch and learn. I was like a sponge for that week, taking in everything that I possibly could.
“Not everything that applies to the men's game can be brought to the women's game but it was really pleasing to see stuff that we're doing, so it made me feel like we're on the right path.
“You are going to pick up things because they're brilliant coaches and very experienced coaches as well, and they're working where each week is a very tough challenge. To see the level that they work at, the detail that they work at and then that some of the ideas are the same made it a really fun week.
“So it's maybe not the worst thing now when the international breaks come around! I miss the girls and miss everyone being together but then there's an opportunity to go across and to learn and just be around Fabian and the guys.”
