Our women's under-19s lost 1-0 to Durham in the PGA League on Wednesday.
Dani Bowman's side made the long trip up north looking to continue their impressive season, which sees them currently sitting fifth in the league, but conceded early in the second half and couldn't get back into the game.
Bowman expressed her disappointment after the match, saying, "We are disappointed with our performance. I don’t think we were at our best and our brilliant basics fell short against a strong team.
“The result is probably a fair one - we didn’t create enough opportunities in their box, and we didn’t defend well in ours."
Goalless at the break, the coaching staff encouraged the group to build on a positive first-half performance.
Bowman said, "We actually praised the girls in the first half; we were playing very nice football but needed to exploit the opposition more behind the back-line. Unfortunately, we didn’t come out strong and lost control of the game."

Reflecting on the tactical side of the performance, she said, “We were happy with our build up; we possessed the ball well from the back but our product and final third play wasn't intense enough to exploit them."
The squad now have a short break before returning to league action against Aston Villa next weekend. Bowman outlined the focus for the coming days as the group look to respond positively.
“We know the areas that need to improve which we have been exposed to in the last two games, so training will give us that opportunity to develop and improving in certain areas.
"Throughout the season the group has grown a lot, we have improved across the pitch but unfortunately yesterday was one of the games where it just didn’t work."
