Chiamaka Nnodazie won Best Goalkeeper of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2024*, as she helped Nigeria win the tournament for the tenth time on Saturday.
The Super Falcons were two goals down in the final against Morocco, but came back to win 3-2, thanks to an 88th minute strike from Jennifer Echegini.
The 24-year-old – who joined us from Paris FC this summer – has now won WAFCON twice after she previously picked up the trophy in 2018.
Chiamaka kept four consecutive clean sheets as Nigeria beat Tunisia 3-0, Botswana 1-0 and drew 0-0 with Algeria in the group stages, before defeating Zambia 5-0 in the quarter-finals.
She finally conceded in their 2-1 win over South Africa in the semi-finals, before their win over the Atlas Lions in the final.
*The tournament was delayed by 12 months due to the Olympic Games in Paris.
