Facts and stats
Manchester City have won 10 of their last 12 meetings with Brighton and Hove Albion in all competitions, most recently winning 4-0 in last season's Women's FA Cup final.
Albion were 3-2 winners in their most recent WSL meeting with Manchester City back in April - the last team to beat the Citizens twice in the top-flight in the same calendar year, other than Chelsea or Arsenal, were both Birmingham City and Bristol City in 2014.
City are only the third reigning champions to win each of their opening five games of a WSL campaign after the Citizens did so themselves in 2017-18 (first 7) and Chelsea did so in 2024-25 (first 9).
Albion picked up their first win of the season on MOS but still sit ninth in the WSL table on five points; Opta's Expected Points model expects the Seagulls to sit third on 11 points, the biggest underperformance in terms of both position and points by any side.
City have won each of their last 15 WSL home games, including all 14 under Andree Jeglertz; since the start of last season, Barcelona (18/18) and OL Lyonnes (15/15) are the only other ever-present teams in Europe's big five leagues with a 100% record in home matches.
Albion have named the most different starting centre back partnerships in the WSL so far this season (4); despite that, the Seagulls have named the same one in their last two games and rank third for lowest xGA in the competition this term (4.9), behind only Chelsea (2.1) and Arsenal (4.7).
Manchester City have recovered the most points from losing positions in the WSL this season (6), already as many as they did last season (W2 L3 when behind). Only Everton (6) have won more points than the Citizens (5) from goals scored in the final 30 minutes of games so far this term.
Manchester City's Lauren Hemp has scored twice in back-to-back WSL appearances for the very first time and is already just one behind her goal involvement total from last season. Hemp's six total goals (4) and assists (2) have been worth five points to the Citizens this term, the most of any player for their side.
Gabby George has scored two goals in three WSL appearances for Brighto, after scoring just twice across her previous 104 top-flight outings. Both have come from corners, with no team scoring more times via corners in 2026-27 than the Seagulls (3 - level with Manchester City).
Khadija Shaw has scored in each of her last five WSL starts and could equal her longest run of consecutive starts with a goal in the competition (6, February to April 2024). Overall, the Jamaican has 87 goals in 84 English top-flight starts.
