Head coach Dario Vidosic says his side is fuelled by the prospect of creating 'history' as they prepare to face defending champions Arsenal in Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final.
Albion head into the tie as underdogs against a Gunners side that secured a place in the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday. However, Vidosic believes the "one-off" nature of the cup provides the perfect platform for his players to showcase their ability.
"We always talk about that - trying to be the first team to make that history for the club and bring the first piece of silverware," Vidosic said. "We know in every single competition that it’s very tough. It’s the best league in the world with the best teams, but we will prepare well and we can go there confident."
Albion have already shown they can compete with the North London giants this season, having put in a resilient performance at the Emirates in the WSL before losing 1-0 to an own goal.
Reflecting on the lessons learned from that encounter, Vidosic highlighted the need for total concentration to avoid the "avalanche" effect Arsenal can trigger.
"Arsenal is always a tricky one because they can keep the ball, but they can also hit you very, very quickly.
"If you do concede, that can very quickly turn into two or three, as we saw in the North London derby at the weekend. We’ve learned from that. We want to have our momentum as well; we want to play our game and try to hurt them with the ball."
Despite the stature of the opponent, Vidosic insists his squad won't be overawed by the occasion or the venue at Meadow Park.
"The intensity of training and the competition for places has lifted," he added. "The girls should be excited by this challenge. They are facing one of the best four clubs in Europe. That alone should give us energy. If we can get a positive result it takes us one step closer to what’s the funnest day: a cup final at Wembley."
