Dario Vidosic admitted his side got what they deserved as they returned to WSL action with a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Liverpool.
Nikita Parris equalised midway through the second half with her sixth goal of the season but Liverpool were deserved winners thanks to goals from Olivia Smith and an own goal by Jorelyn Carabali.
âEverywhere went wrong,â admitted Albionâs head coach. âI couldnât recognise us at all. I felt we took a lot of steps back from where we have been. Credit to Liverpool, they made it tough for us but we werenât caught out by anything from Liverpool, we just didnât have any attacking edge and looked toothless. We lacked disciplined and structure and played straight into their hands, it was very disappointing.
Nikita Parris got Albion back into the game with a second-half equaliser. đˇ by Kyle Hemsley.
âWhen you donât have a solid platform or win enough match-ups thatâs what you will get. Hopefully it is a one-off. Regardless of tactics we lost a lot of our duels tonight and then it becomes very difficult.
âIt is frustrating. We go performance to performance and while we can pat ourselves on the back for our achievements in the first half of the season thatâs irrelevant now. In glimpses we did look good but there werenât enough of those glimpses.â
Albion are back in action next Wednesday when they host Arsenal in the quarter-finals of the Subway League Cup.
âThe good thing is weâve got a quick turnaround,â added Vidosic. âWe know we are and can be a good team. We need to learn from this and learn from it quickly.â
