Inigo Calderon is aware of the importance of the FA Youth Cup as Albion embark on this season’s competition.
Our MU18s face Newcastle United at Whitley Bay FC on Monday (7pm) in the third round.
“The FA Youth Cup is a special competition,” said head coach Calderon. “If I am honest I would prefer to talk about the League because the FA Youth Cup could be just one game.
“But I understand the culture of English football and the importance of the FA Youth Cup so we want to give a good performance and maybe this season we can play five or six games in the competition."
Newcastle are currently tenth in Premier League North with two wins from their ten games so far, but head coach Calderon knows it will be a difficult game.
Newcastle are a tough team and it’s a long trip up there,” added Calderon. “For us it’s important we keep the emotion cold as it will be a different game to the league and we have to control them during the good and bad times.
"If we do that we will be fine but for sure it is a difficult game.”
