Our men’s under-18s played out a goalless draw with West Brom on Saturday to pick up their first point of the Premier League South campaign.
Albion had the chance to open the scoring from the penalty spot after an hour, but Adam Brett missed his spot kick before Isaiah Alakiu was sent off with 72 minutes on the clock.
Head coach Bjorn Hamberg said, “It was a good performance with a good point at the end. We were up against a physical West Brom team, and we had to defend the space behind us and a lot of crosses which we did excellently.
“We couldn’t get the final bit of quality at the other end, we missed a penalty and we also hit the post.
“Unfortunately, we got a red card but showed great character and team spirit to keep a clean sheet.”
Bjorn’s team are back in action on Wednesday when they take on Manchester United.
