Our men’s under-18s proved to be truly inspired by our under-21s as they also came from two goals and a man down to draw 2-2 in their match at Southampton on Saturday. A Wyatt Comley brace for Saints before a red card for Anton Palmer left the under-18s, under interim head coach Steven Menzies, with work to do in the second half.
But they obliged, with Bailey Palmer picking out Jacob Parsons six yards out to tuck home a first-time effort to halve the deficit after an hour.

The equaliser came after 72 minutes which Palmer once again provided, this time picking out Bode Newnham-Reeve to stab past goalkeeper Cale Richardson.
Menzies said, “We started well and managed to have most of the ball and got into good areas, but we didn’t quite create the moment to score. We were punished by Southampton scoring from two set pieces and from that point the game became quite messy and transitional.

“In the second half we were much the better team. We looked disciplined and organised out of possession, and were able to threaten when we had the ball.
“Over the course of the game and particularly in the second half I would say we deserved to win. It was an amazing effort and the boys showed good fight to get something from the game. It was very similar to the under-21s’ game on Friday!”
