Our men’s under-18s beat title-chasing Tottenham 3-1 on Saturday to make it five matches unbeaten.
The result moved Albion up to third in the table, eight points behind second-place Spurs with four games to play.
Bailey Palmer’s pass found Jacob Parsons who lifted the ball over Dylan Thompson and into the back of the net after ten minutes to put Albion in front.
With Spurs in the ascendancy in the second half, Albion landed a sucker punch, doubling their lead when Henry Kasvosve rounded off an excellent move that involved Younes Ibrahim and Bailey Palmer.
The three points were in the bag with ten minutes to go when under-16 Brook Smith found Parsons in the box to tuck home. Harry Byrne scored directly from a free-kick for Spurs, but it was only a blemish on an otherwise perfect day for Albion.
Men’s under-18s interim head coach Steven Menzies said, “It was a really positive performance and result against one of the best teams in the league.
"We started the game very well, enjoyed more of the ball and disrupted them consistently out of possession. The rest of the half was fairly even in terms of possession, they threatened on the break and we caused them problems when we moved the ball side to side.
“They started the second half with a lot of the ball but I was pleased with how organised we were without the ball. They were beginning to gain more and more control and we scored our second at the perfect time.
“A similar pattern developed, we had less of the ball but looked organised. We had good performances all over the pitch. Everyone was at the level we wanted them to be at.”
