Our men’s under-18s were beaten 3-2 by Southampton in Premier League South on Saturday.
Albion led twice with Jackson Morby putting us 1-0 up after 39 minutes with a wonderfully worked goal, but Saints equalised just before the break thanks to a smart corner routine that Walter Nutter rounded off with a shot from the edge of the box.
Bjorn Hamberg’s team restored their lead five minutes after the restart when Bode Newnham-Reeve found the bottom right corner with a lovely strike after cutting in from the left.

Our advantage lasted 11 minutes before Nutter’s free-kick was headed home by Lewis Day, before Saints' comeback was complete when Luke Hawe reacted first to a loose ball in the box to rifle home.
Hamberg said, “We have to give credit to Southampton and their coaches, as they are a really well organised team. It was a very good and high intensity game by both teams.
“We scored a couple of brilliant goals but unfortunately Southampton just edged it on the day. We kept pushing and could have equalised, but their keeper made a big save at the end.
“I was really happy with how we applied ourselves and it was great to see Musa Sanyang and Finn Dzekawong get their under-18 debuts – both did really well.”
