Our men’s under-18s were beaten 3-0 at home by Chelsea in Premier League South on Saturday.
Chizaram Ezenwata put his team in front after 19 minutes, before goals from Mahdi Nicoll-Jazuli and Reggie Walsh in the second half secured the win for the Blues.
Interim Under-18s head coach Steven Menzies said, “We created several good moments in the first 15 minutes, but we were unable to make them count – their keeper made three good saves.
“Chelsea looked dangerous on the transition and they had a couple of chances before scoring. The rest of the half was fairly even in terms of chances, Chelsea had spells with the ball but our shape was good out of possession.
“The second half was a different story – they started well and we didn’t. We struggled to get pressure on the ball and we were unable to have any spells of possession.
“We hit the bar late on and had another good chance on the break, but the damage was already done by that point.
“There are no complaints about the score after the performances of both teams in the second half, they were better than us.”
