Our men’s under-18s lost their opening game of the Premier League South season 2-0 to Aston Villa.
Alfie Lynskey put the visitors in front after 56 minutes, finding the bottom corner from the edge of the box, before Vinnie Hayward found the top corner for their second 11 minutes later.
Jack McGrath was sent off in the last minute of normal time, but Albion couldn’t find a way back into the game.
Albion under-18s head coach Bjorn Hamberg said, “It was a good start to the season, but unfortunately not the result we wished for.
“We showed a lot of courage and showed a lot of good phases of play, but we didn’t create enough big opportunities to get the goals we wanted.
“The boys showed great character and togetherness against a good opposition. We will bounce back next weekend.”
