Albion went down to only their second WSL defeat of the season against in-form Spurs at Brisbane Road.
Cathinka Tandberg’s first-half goal was the difference in a game of few clear-cut chances.
Albion threatened to equalise in the second half and will claim they should have had a penalty in the early stages, but the absence of Fran Kirby, who missed the game through illness, was felt and they only had two shots on target compared to Tottenham's eight.
In the opening exchanges, Marisa Olislagers went down under the challenge of Spurs defender Toko Kaga, who also appeared to handle, while in the second half, Kiko Seike – through on goal – was taken out by Amanda Nilden just as she shaped to shoot. Both decisions were waved away by referee Ryan Atkin.

Jess Naz was a threat down Tottenham’s left. She almost found Beth England in the box after one run before Charlie Rule got across to sniff out the danger when she threatened again.
Spurs were getting on top and they broke the deadlock in the 26th minute. Naz created the goal with a fine cross from the left and Cathinka Tandberg got in front of Rule to score from close range.
Albion were struggling to break Tottenham’s press and home keeper Lisa Kop was only tested once in the first half when she held onto Rachel McLauchlan’s overhead kick in a crowded box.

Chimaka Nnadozie saw Eveliina Summanen’s free kick from 25 yards late but dived to her left to save at the start of the second half before Albion began to offer more of an attacking threat as the game got stretched.
Jelena Cankovic connected well with Kiko Seike’s pull-back but her shot was blocked by a defender before Rosa Kafaji dragged a shot wide from 12 yards in a crowded penalty area.

Carla Camacho came on with 17 minutes to go and her first pass put Kiko Seike into space on the right but her shot was blocked by Kaga as Albion pressed for an equaliser. Spurs were still a threat and Kaga poked a shot just wide that would have put the game to bed but a single goal was enough for the hosts.
